"My son was a recipient of a backpack filled with supplies yesterday.  His name is Elijah and he will be starting 5th grade.  I cannot tell you how much we appreciate this kind act.  Our home was totally destroyed by the tornado.  We hope to start rebuilding soon.  We are so grateful for everyone who helped with this.  I have always been one to donate to various organizations in time of need.  We have never been in the position of being on the receiving end . . . until now.  It is so nice to know that there are people who care about others and we have found out that there are caring people everywhere.

Again, we appreciate everything.

Sincerely,"

"Dear Backpacks of Hope,

Thank you so much for the donations made to the students at Montegut Middle School, in Montegut, Louisiana, which was hit with flooding from Hurricane Rita.  So many of these children lost most of what they had, and this backpack care package surely lifted their spirits.  What an awesome idea!

Sincerely,"

Patty B. | Bourg, Louisiana

"Thank you very much for sending the backpacks to our school. I love the backpack you sent me it has everything! I just thought that it would have just the school bag with some crayons and maybe a folder but it had that and much more!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to thank everyone in Seattle, Washington who is part of Backpacks for Hope. It was a wonderful gift and my favorite would have to be the little blue teddy bear I got in mine! It has more than school things it has food, candy, toys, clothes, school supplies, bathroom toiletry, makeup, lip smackers, earrings, and hair supplies thank you! Since all I can name is girl thing you probably know that I’m a girl from Montegut Middle in 5th grade. Those gifts were special to many children because lots of people lost their homes and plenty of their stuff because of the floods from Hurricane Rita. Me and my mom went to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served hot meals after the storm for the families who had nothing to eat. We are from Montegut, Louisiana and we love to help people especially at a time like this. Thank you again for the backpack it was wonderful! God bless you!"

"I just wanted to thank you personally for the backpack that my daughter received from you today. We live in Montegut, La and were flooded by Hurricanne Rita. The light shining in her face when she got off of the bus today was beautiful. This made her feel so happy in a time when she has been pretty sad. Just to get something for her own again has brought hope to her. Thank you and your organization very much for this wonderful gift."
